2019 NYWIFT Designing Women Awards

The 2019 NYWIFT Designing Women Awards are on June 11th, and we’re excited as always to attend. It is an evening of celebrating, honoring and connecting and it is always a blast.  This year’s lineup is exceptional.

This year we’ll be treated to the comedy stylings of Zainab Johnson, who will be hosting the show. You may know her from HBO’s All Def Comedy, NBC’s Last Comic Standing, Arsenio, BET’s Comic View, MTV’s Acting Out or the web series Avant-Guardians.  We are looking forward to her humor and energy to keep the show flowing.

Other presenters include Rachel Brosnahan, Zazie Beetz, Caroline Aaron, Marin Hinkle, and Lesley Stahl along with a few surprises. The presenters are key to this great night, they are colleagues who know the honorees well and who rely on the gifts of these amazing designers.  The presenters are always funny and touching.

2019 NYWIFT Designing Women Awards: Costume Designer Michele Clapton

Michele Clapton will be honored for her work on “Game of Thrones” and “The Crown.” With the tremendous buzz around the end of “Game of Thrones,” we are thrilled to honor one of the masters of such a cultural phenomenon.

2019 NYWIFT Designing Women Awards: Hair Stylist Shunika Terry

Shunika Terry will be honored for her work on “Atlanta,” ” Superintelligence” and “Shaft.” For the last ten years, Terry has been working on some of our favorite shows and she doesn’t seem to be slowing down.

2019 NYWIFT Designing Women Awards: Makeup Artist Riccie Johnson

Riccie Johnson has been a makeup artist at CBS for more than 60 years and is still going strong. Johnson has certainly seen it all, making up famous faces from the Beatles to Presidents.

2019 NYWIFT Designing Women Awards: Variety Ensemble Award to The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel

This is possibly the best part of the night, as we celebrate what this business is truly about:  collaboration.  All of the designers of “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel “ team will bring their meticulous vision together and some magic happens.
