Fashion Fix: Relieving Blisters
Author: Cheryl Kilbourne-Kimpton
It’s summertime, and the back of my feet are already torn up with blisters. I should know better: I’ve invested in a couple of new pairs of shoes (ballet flats and some cute wedge espadrilles) and I knew they’d rub. Did I prevent it? No. Can I relieve it? Sure. We have a few tips and tricks on how to do just that.
Blisters: Prevention
It’s pretty easy to prevent blisters with a little forethought. Wear your new shoes around the house. Notice any place they rub? Purchase a roll of Moleskin and put it on the inside of the shoe. No more rubbing! It’s great to have this stuff around just to put in your shoes to make sure they’re comfortable.
If, like me, you think “gosh, they won’t rub!” and then go on a 10 or 15 block walk and realize you’re wrong, there are a bunch of great treatments that are quick and easy to put on your blister so you can continue your walking without pain.
Blisters: Fashion First Aid The Heel Deal
Just put Fashion First Aid’s The Heel Deal in your shoes as soon as you get them to prevent tearing up your shoes, or after you realize they rub. They’re a comfortable gel that takes the pressure off and leaves you blister-free.
Blisters: Spenco 2nd Skin Blister Pads
Already have a blister like I do? Put Spenco’s 2nd Skin Blister Pads on to heal them. They keep blisters from drying out, absorb perspiration and help promote a scab-free, naturally healing blister so you can go about your day. Keep them in your purse!
Blisters: Foot Petals Technogel Pressure Points
Foot Petals Technogel Pressure Points are great because they’re reusable from shoe to shoe! Put them on where the shoe rubs, then wash with soap and water to restore stickiness. They’re clear, too, so they can be used on your most delicate shoes without showing.
Don’t forget — never pop a blister. For more ways to make your shoes more comfortable, head to Manhattan Wardrobe Supply. Whether you’re a ballerina or just hoofing it in the city, we have you covered (and cushioned).
