We are very excited for each and every one of you! Whether you are a nominee or a winner, this is an achievement that represents a lot of hard work and dedication by your team. An accomplishment to be proud of.
For all the winners, do you know where the award got its name? According to the Academy of Arts and Sciences official history of the awards: “before the first awards were presented in 1949, the Television Academy debated what to call the gold woman-with-atom statuette that represents the relationship between art and science. The winning name was chosen to honor the image orthicon tube, an important bit of TV technology, (the tube revolutionized what it was possible to show on TV). The initial proposal of “Immy” was changed to “Emmy” because it sounded more like a name that might belong to the woman in the statuette.”
