Fashion Fix: Fashion First Aid Emergency Prevention Kit
Author: Cheryl Kilbourne-Kimpton
Summer is almost here, and I think that it’s easier to have a fashion emergency in the summer than in the winter — maybe it’s because when we have an emergency, it’s more dire as we’re wearing less clothing made of finer materials. It’s even more important to have an emergency kit with you — and thankfully, Fashion First Aid has an entire kit that can fix problems you didn’t even know you had! The Fashion First Aid Emergency Prevention Kit has been featured on the Today Show, and is always popular — here’s what’s in it!
Fashion Fix: Garment Guard
Getting a little sweaty this summer, and is your deodorant not covering it? Garment Guards, disposable versions of the dress guards your grandma used to use are here. Why did we stop using them? These are so key to keeping you cool, dry, and cutting your drycleaning bills (and saving stress on garments) by preventing your clothing from getting smelly.
Fashion Fix: Pocksie
My favorite dresses always have pockets, but sometimes pockets are hard to find! Put a pocksie inside your light sweater or inside another garment to store small items. You can also put them on the inside of boots or on the inside of a bag!
Fashion Fix: Quick Fix Sticks
These are pre-cut pieces of wardrobe tape on an a dollar-bill sized backing, perfect to put in your wallet so you can tack down a hem, a bra strap, or prevent your shirt from gaping on the go.
Fashion Fix: Wundercover
Wundercover is great for preventing (or covering) blisters or even tattoos. It’s thinner than traditional moleskin, and more comfortable. You can keep a couple of pieces in your bag for emergencies, and it can be cut to shape to fit in your ballet flat or on your wrist (or anywhere else!).
Fashion Fix: White Collar Grime
This sticky strip is great for keeping body oils, grime and sweat off of your collars– or off of the inside of ball caps, Derby hats, fedoras– whatever kind of hat you wear. Just cut to size, peel off the back, and stick it in — your hat is protected.
Fashion Fix: Strap Trap
I have several tops that have a racerback, but I hate buying racerback bras because most of the time, regular ones are exactly what I need. The Strap Trap converts your regular bras into a racerback. It takes just a couple of seconds, doesn’t damage your bra, and you can maintain the coverage you like, bra-wise while not showing your straps. Genius!
Fashion Fix: Skid Out
These little sponges are good for those fashion disasters that you don’t notice until later: deodorant streaks, toothpaste drool, pet hair, and more! Just rub the sponge over the affected area and you’re fixed. You get two — keep one in your purse or bag, the other in your desk at work. It treats deodorant marks, toothpaste drool, dried baby spit-up, food crust, makeup powder smudges, pet hair and lint.
The Fashion First Aid Emergency Prevention Kit is, of course, available at Manhattan Wardrobe Supply! Need other fashion fixes? We can help — just ask!
