Fashion Fix Friday: Preventing and Treating Blisters
Author: Cheryl Kilbourne-Kimpton
If I had a nickel for every blister I’ve gotten, I’d have more than enough to buy some really nice shoes. And that’s the thing– whether your shoes are from a discount store or a SoHo boutique, at some point, you could get a blister. We have some ways of preventing and treating blisters that will make every step comfortable.
Preventing and Treating Blisters: Bunheads Blister Dots
Ballet dancers are the queens (and kings!) of blisters. Trust what they use: Bunheads Blister Dots. These are classic– my grandmother used them!– and are popular for a reason. They stick to the foot without pulling, cushion without taking up too much room in your shoe, and have a hole so your blister doesn’t get covered with glue. Keep a couple in your purse: you never know when you’ll need them.
Preventing and Treating Blisters: Spenco 2nd Skin Blister Pads
Spenco 2nd Skin Blister Pads are great for when you fear your blister might pop, or if you need some waterproofing. These have a comfy pad, stay-put adhesive, and last up to five days: plenty of time for your blister to heal itself. I like these particularly for the back-of-heel blisters a couple of pairs of heels I have tend to create.
Preventing and Treating Blisters: Foot Petals Technogel Pressure Points
I have a few pairs of shoes that have one or two places that continuously rub. Ow. Foot Petals Technogel Pressure Points help with this. Just pop one on the place your shoe rubs– before it happens!– and you’ll be good to go.
Preventing and Treating Blisters: Moleskin
Moleskin is a fantastic product. You can cut it to shape to line the inside of a shoe, the edge of a shoe, or just to tape up a blistered foot. You can even cut it to help the inside of your shoes from being slippery! It’s really versatile, and this is important for anyone’s kit– pro or not.
It only takes a few products to keep your feet in tip-top condition. Try these out!
