2015 Academy Award Nominees in Costume Design

The 2015 Academy Award nominees in Costume Design are an impressive group to say the least. All but one were nominated for the Costume Designer’s Guild awards which will be handed out 5 days before the Academy Awards. The Grand Budapest Hotel was also nominated for makeup and hairstyling. Congratulations to all the nominees for delighting us with their imaginations and artistry. Here are the nominees:

The Grand Budapest Hotel, Milena Canonero

Canonero is no stranger to the Academy Awards.  She won in 2006 for Marie Antoinette, as well as in 1981 for Chariots of Fire and 1975 for Barry Lyndon.  She’s also been nominated for an Academy Award 5 other times.

Inherent Vice, Mark Bridges

Mark Bridges won the Academy Award for costume design in 2011 for The Artist.

Into the Woods, Colleen Atwood

Colleen Atwood is known for her lush, period costumes (particularly around movie-musicals), winning Academy Awards for Chicago in 2002, Memoirs of a Geisha in 2005 and Alice in Wonderland in 2010, as well as nominations for Sweeney Todd, Nine, and six other films since 1994.

Maleficent, Anna B. Sheppard and Jane Clive

Maleficent is the third Academy Award nomination for Anna B. Sheppard, following The Pianist in 2002 and Schindler’s List in 1993. This is Jane Clive’s first nomination.

Mr. Turner, Jaqueline Durran

This is Jacqueline Durran’s fourth nomination, after winning for Anna Karenina in 2012 and nominations for Atonement and Pride and Prejudice.

The Oscars will be televised live from the Dolby Theater in Hollywood on February 22.
