Make Your Own Sanitizers With MWS

Author: Kimberly V Kay

At MWS we are feeling the challenges of COVID-19 with the rest of the country. Our e-commerce store is still open for the moment and we are still shipping. We have laid off all of our staff so one of the owners is now working alone shipping out all orders. While we are sold out of Jao, Purell, and other sanitizers, we are working to get products back in stock. Meanwhile, we have some ideas to protect yourself and your family. You can make your own Sanitizers.

Make Your Own Sanitizers: Hand and Body

The best way to prevent transmission of the novel coronavirus is still with good old water and soap, washing your hands.

Here is the proper way to do it:
Wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds, really wash them like a surgeon, with soap and water. This works better than any store-bought or homemade product. But having your sanitizer in your bag is great for those times soap and water isn’t an option.

If you’re in a bind and have to use hand sanitizer, there’s a correct way to do that as well.
Whether it’s a spray-type hand sanitizer or gel, make sure both of your hands are covered — including between the fingers and under the nails — and rub until dry.  If your hands are visibly dirty or greasy, hand sanitizer may not be as effective, according to the CDC.

Also for a hand sanitizer to be effective, it must have at least 60% alcohol content, according to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (so, no your adult beverages won’t work, but good try!)

RECIPE:

3 parts of 99% alcohol or ethanol

1  part of pure aloe vera gel or glycerine

Mix together in a bowl then put sanitizer in plastic bottles You could also add a few drops of tea tree oil if you have it to give your sanitizer a pleasant scent and align your chakras if you believe in that.

For a more potent sanitizer try this.

RECIPE:

This recipe makes approximately a little over 8 oz. (1 cup)

12 tbsp. of alcohol or ethanol

1 tbsp. of  hydrogen peroxide

2 tbsp. of distilled water or boiled (then cooled) water

5 tbsp. of pure aloe vera gel or glycerine

Mix the solution together in a spray bottle. Remember that at least 60% of your final mixture must be alcohol. This sanitizer is definitely a spray, not a gel. You can spray it on a paper towel and also use it as a wipe. Try adding a drop of Tea Tree for fragrance or even lavender.

NOTE:
Glycerol/ glycerine: used as a humectant, but other emollients may be used
for skincare (aloe vera gel), provided that they are cheap, widely available
and miscible in water and alcohol and do not add to toxicity,
or promote allergy.

Hydrogen peroxide: used to inactivate contaminating bacterial
spores in the solution and is not an active substance for
hand antisepsis.

• Any further additive to both formulations should be clearly
labeled and be non-toxic in case of accidental ingestion.

• A colorant may be added to allow differentiation from other fluids,
but should not add to toxicity, promote allergy, or interfere with
antimicrobial properties. The addition of perfumes or dyes is
not recommended due to the risk of allergic reactions.

Make Your Own Sanitizers: Thieves Kit

Thieves Make Your Own Hand Sanitizer With MWS

My favorite sanitizer on the planet is Thieves from Young Living Essential Oils and we have a way for you to get it.

If you’ve never heard of thieves, I bet you are wondering what it is and why the name? According to our friends at Young Living, “Young Living’s proprietary Thieves® essential oil blend was inspired by the legend of four 15th-century French thieves who formulated and wore a special aromatic combination of clove, rosemary, vinegar, and other botanicals that they believed provided protection while they were stealing. French authorities recognized that there was such value in this mixture that upon the thieves’ capture, they received a more merciful punishment on condition that they divulge the ingredients in their secret formula.

Crafted in the spirit of that legendary combination, Young Living’s one-of-a-kind Thieves essential oil blend can be found in all our Thieves products. Featuring Clove oil, Cinnamon Bark Oil, Eucalyptus Radiata oil, Rosemary oil, and Lemon oil.  Thieves imparts a spicy, welcoming aroma everywhere it’s used.

With the benefits of Thieves oil, including cleaning power and an irresistibly spicy scent, Young Living offers it as an essential oil blend and as an important ingredient in a full range of home cleaning and personal care products from dish soap to toothpaste. Possibly our most versatile and beloved blend, Thieves products replace harsh chemicals with pure, therapeutic-grade essential oils and other naturally derived ingredients.”

Thieves Hand Purifier Recipe:

2 Tablespoons aloe vera gel

1 Tablespoon purified, distilled or boiled (and cooled water)

10 Tbsp. of 99% alcohol

1/8 Teaspoon Vitamin E oil

5 Drops Thieves Essential Oil Blend

Mix the 99% alcohol,  aloe vera gel, vitamin E oil, and Thieves oil together. Add a little water to dilute. The texture should be thin and light to coat your hand. Pour mixture into a small bottle and keep it handy.

I use Thieves all over my house and body and I love the smell. Here is a link to get the Thieves Starter Kit: https://yl.pe/thieveshomecleaning
