New York Fashion Week: Bridal
Author: Cheryl Kilbourne-Kimpton
Another fabulous New York Fashion Week: Bridal has just come to an end. Indeed, wedding gowns took center stage at events throughout the city last week. And attendees were privy to the latest collections from veteran designers such as Oscar De La Renta, Carolina Herrera, Naeem Khan and Monique Lhuillier.
Here are a few unforgettable moments from the week as well as several designers who stood out.
New York Fashion Week: Bridal – Christian Siriano
Designer Christian Siriano used Monet and Degas as inspirations for his first-ever bridal collection. The Project Runway winner partnered with Say Yes To The Dress retailer Kleinfeld Bridal to create some stunning gowns. Never shying away from bold elements, Siriano saved the best for last – his final look was a ball gown with a striking ombre effect that took everyone’s breath away.
New York Fashion Week: Bridal – Marchesa
Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig’s Marchesa presented a collection that was inspired by a fairy-tale garden. The theme couldn’t be more fitting as Marchesa is known for their mastery of floral details and their whimsical flair. And they left no doubt that they understand what women want for their big day: a touch of class, a touch of whismy and full-on beauty.
New York Fashion Week: Bridal – More Highlights
Naeem Khan’s Bride-in-Black gown was a sight to behold: embellished with black roses, Khan’s creation rendered him a standing ovation.
Theia designer Don O’Neill was clearly influenced by the David Bowie sci-fi movie The Man Who Fell To Earth (1976). The result was a wonder and completely out-of-this world.
Israeli designer Galia Lahav presented form-fitting gowns and managed to make a plunging neckline classy. Golden head-pieces were also a unique element in her collection.
Overall, the gowns were impressive and inventive. We applaud the boldness and talent of these designers!
