New York Fashion Week – Fall/Winter 2016

New York Fashion Week kicks off tonight and runs through February 18th. Elite labels will present their Fall/Winter 2016 Collections in an event that’s guaranteed to be brimming with surprises and innovation.

New York Fashion Week – See Now, Wear Now

Several high-profile brands have decided to make their clothing available for immediate purchase. For example, consumers will be able to buy items from Rebecca Minkoff’s entire Spring collection as soon as they hit the runway. Additionally, Tom Ford and Burberry’s Christopher Bailey have announced that, come September, they’ll show new goods and sell straight from the catwalk. This is new approach, known as “see now, wear now,” takes aim at the long gap between when fashion shows debut and when the pieces actually become available.

New York Fashion Week – Battle of the Singers

No matter if you view them as bonafide fashion designers or simply trendsetters, Kanye West and Rihanna are undoubtedly the talk of the town. West will be showing his new collection “Yeezy Season 3” in a multi-hour, celebrity-packed spectacle at Madison Square Garden. Rihanna’s Puma Collection hasn’t been as publicized to the same degree as West’s. However, given that her first collection for the brand (released last September) was a smashing hit and sold-out multiple times, we’re confident she’ll be well-received. And, lest we forget, Erykah Badu is also putting her unique fashion sense to good use; she’ll be styling the runway show for the NYC-based label Pyer Moss.

New York Fashion Week has always been a rather exclusive event. Hence, scoring tickets is notoriously difficult for regular fashion lovers. Fortunately, this year, the event is making a concerted effort to include the general public. Harnessing the power of technology, individuals will be able to download the new NYFW Free App. This will provide the public with opportunities to stream the shows live, glimpse behind the scenes footage and hear exclusive news.
