New York Women in Film and Television Designing Women Awards
Author: Cheryl Kilbourne-Kimpton
Each year, New York’s best female costume, hair and makeup designers are honored by New York Women in Film and Television at their annual Designing Women event. Manhattan Wardrobe Supply is once again proud to support this year’s NYWIFT Designing Women event and pay tribute to their creative work in bringing characters to life in Movies and Televison.

Designing Women 2014 was on Wednesday, June 18 and as usual was a fantastic event honoring
- Costume Designer Renée Ehrlich Kalfus (Annie, Chocolat, The Cider House Rules, What’s Eating Gilbert Grape);
- Makeup artist Evelyne Noraz (American Hustle, The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, Rachel Getting Married); and
- Hair Stylist Kerrie Smith (Now You See Me, Behind the Candelabra, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps, Rescue Me).
- The Variety Ensemble Award was presented to the costume, hair and makeup team of “The Angriest Man in Brooklyn” including costume designer Emma Potter, hair stylist Erin Hicks and makeup artist Cheri Minns.
This year was particularly special as I worked as Renee Kalfus’s Wardrobe Supervisor on What Happens in Vegas. Her devotion to character development, attention to detail and collaborative spirit made the project a joy to work on and I was excited to see her recognized for her impressive body of work.
The evening’s emcee was Michelle Williams, the Grammy Award-winner and former member of Destiny’s Child, now solo, who is about to release her first album in 5 years, Journey to Freedom.
