Once Upon a Time Costumes

Author: Cheryl Kilbourne-Kimpton

Once Upon a Time costumes are stellar.  All of your favorite fairy tale stories — but live action, and a little bit dark.  This season, after a season of Neverland, we enter the world of Elsa and Anna from “Frozen”.  I think we all saw this coming after the popularity of the movie, but that’s okay — we knew the costumes would be phenomenal!

Once Upon a Time Costumes: Elsa

Elsa’s costumes so far are a pretty close approximation of the movie: sequins, sheer sleeves, and messy blonde braid are all intact on Georgina Haig as Elsa.

For that messy braid, you might need to use a wig– so don’t forget your wig caps and wig stands.  For her glittery dress, you could sew on individual paillettes, or go for some transparent glitter.  When you’re sewing the fine, sheer material for her sleeves and train, don’t forget to use the correct sewing machine needle.

Maybe you don’t want to go full-on Elsa; instead, you just want to echo Elsa for a special event.  Check out our Polyvore picks for some ideas:

Once Upon a Time Costumes: Snow White

Snow White, played by Ginnifer Goodwin, is the lead character for Once Upon a Time.  Her dark hair, fair skin, and white clothing certainly lend itself to that Snow White character, and this is easy for you to recreate at home.  Most important part?  Lipstick remover.  All of that red lipstick, all of that apple eating, all of that white clothing?  Disaster.  We like Everblum Cosmetic Stain Remover.  We’re big red lipstick wearers here ourselves, and this stuff works.
