Radiant Spring Skin

It’s time to start getting ready.  Radiant Spring Skin is what we all aspire to have and there is a different route for everyone.  There are however some general things we can all do to get our skin where it needs to be.  Come with me on the journey to radiant skin.

Radiant Spring Skin | MWS

Get ready kids!!  The beautiful weather we all love is on its way!!

For Starters:

Essentials | MWS

First and foremost, as a licensed esthetician,  I always find that for most people less is more.  Less products will get you a better outcome.  There is no need for a long and detailed skin routine.  If you are in your 20’s your skin literally needs to be cleansed, sunscreen every day, and hydration.  My favorite ingredients for hydration are hyaluronic acid and glycerin.  Always remember that these ingredients work best on damp skin.  You can also add a light moisturizer if you like.

As We Age:

Oil Cleanser | MWSAs we age, our skin will need different things.  When we get into our 30’s we still need to cleanse, but, we may need to start double cleansing.  If you are wearing makeup, or at the end of the day after you have been exposed to all sorts of pollution outside or sunlight an oil cleanser will come in very handy.  Don’t be scared of the oil cleanser!!  Even if you are prone to breakouts the oil cleanser is your friend!  Always use the oil cleanser on dry skin.  This type of cleansing is used to break down makeup (even waterproof makeup), get rid of dirt and dust, and enhance the performance of your regular cleanser.    Once you’ve thoroughly rubbed it in, use your regular facial soap to remove the oil cleanser.  If you don’t get everything off you may be setting yourself up for breakouts.

And Then:

Advanced Care:

Radiant Spring Skin | MWSIf you like you can also add a serum to the mix.  Serums are great because they can treat multiple layers of skin. After all, the molecules in the active ingredients are much smaller, so they penetrate further. Most moisturizers are topical, meaning they will address the top layer of skin.  Moisturizers are important though because they help lock in the hydration in your skin.  Think of hydration and moisture as two different things. Hydration is the water content IN your skin.  Moisture is like a barrier ON the skin to keep the water in and actually refers to.  If you want radiant skin you need both!  If you desire to get the most out of your products you should always use your serum before you use your moisturizer.  This will allow the serum to penetrate all the way into the skin without anything in its way.

Pro Tip:

Radiant Spring Skin | MWSTake something like the new Danessa Myricks Radiant Blurring Balm or Yummy Skin Glow Serum and put it under your foundation!  Use a light to medium coverage skin tint or foundation and you will get a beautiful light from within radiance to your skin that will last all day!  Pop on a peachy, coral, or rosy blush and you’ll be good to go.

This is a simple routine for radiant skin.  Keep it simple.  It’s very easy to use too much of an active ingredient. This will actually harm your skin most of the time rather than help it. So, it’s not a good idea to have vitamin C in your face wash, serum, and moisturizer—choose just one. Now, go forth and show the world your glow! Ta-ta for now!
