MWS has an amazing variety of threads. With a storied history dating all the way back to 1755, Coats and Clark is still the world’s largest manufacturer of sewing thread. My sewing box is filled with spools of Coats and Clark thread that my mom used when I was a child. MWS carries New Coats Dual Duty XP in a huge selection of colors. This X-tra performance thread is a polyester-wrapped, core-spun construction. This creates a smooth strong thread that provides enhanced seam appearance and makes sewing trouble-free. It sews perfectly on all machines.

Sewing Supplies for DIY Projects: Gutermann Thread

Gutermann thread is another favorite with a rich history of a tradition dating back more than 200 years. MWS carries a very large variety of Gutermann threads.

Gutermann Sew-All Polyester Thread is guaranteed knot-free. This 100% polyester thread is washable, colorfast, shrink, iron, and fade resistant. It is available in 110 or 274 yards spools or the large cone with 5468 yards.

If you need a stronger thread, Guterman Extra Strong 100% Polyester Thread is ideal for heavier fabrics, furniture, and crafts. Designed for machine or hand sewing it offers a high breakpoint that is engineered to cope with highly stressed seams.

Gutermann Topstitch Thread is also a 100% polyester thread. It is sold in 33-yard spools and is a strong, heavy polyester thread with a high luster.

For those who prefer to sew with cotton, try the Gutermann Natural Cotton Sewing Thread. It is a 100% long-staple mercerized cotton. Suitable for hand or machine sewing, it is fine but strong with a silky finish. It is available in 110 or 274 yards spools and a multitude of colors.

Gutterman Silk Thread is a favorite to sew closing seams. This high-quality elastic silk thread can also be used for stylish edging, ornamental stitches, and decorative patterns.

Silamide Thread is a favorite of tailors and dressmakers. It is a 2-ply waxed nylon thread made in the U.S. Silamide is strong and resilient and has a gorgeous texture. It is available in 675 yards waxed skeins.

Maxi-Lock Serger Thread is 100% polyester. It has a soft finish but is strong enough to hold up under the most vigorous seam work. Available in 3000-yard cones, Maxi-Lock is tolerant of UV rays, mildew and resistant to shrinkage. 

If you are looking for nylon thread you are going to love our D/E Heavy Duty Nylon Thread. It is great for sewing almost anything that requires strength and durability. It has a high heat tolerance and consistent color so it is an ideal choice for both indoor and outdoor use.

One of my favorite fun gifts to give is the Rainbow Braid Thread. This 100% polyester thread kit consists of over 400 threads and over 22 colors. I just love this!

Whether you are a professional sewer, a beginner, or just need a simple sewing kit for your home or travel, we’ve got everything you’ll need including a few things you probably never even knew existed.

From thread racks, bobbins, and even thread magic(a conditioner for your thread) to seam rippers, needle holders, threaders, and that tomato pin cushion my mom had, MWS has it all.

Elastic in all lengths and widths are back in stock along with seam binding, twill tape, and grosgrain.

We have begun curbside pickup. Just order online and select pickup. Pickup is available Monday through Friday from 2:00 to 5:00 PM. We will bring your order to you on the sidewalk or to your car.

Beginning July 6th we will begin reopening our store to the public on a limited basis. We are looking forward to that.
