Some bags bling better than others.  Canvas bags are a great medium for any sort of sparkle or glitter your heart desires.  Straw bags aren’t quite as easy to decorate, but can look great with sparkly ribbon or a beaded trim.  Choose a bag you like, and then personalize it from there.  Great sources for beach bags?  Thrift stores, dollar stores, stores like Old Navy or H&M, or you can even repurpose canvas grocery bags!

How to Bling Your Beach Bag: Glitter

One of the easiest ways to bling your beach bag is to use glitter.  Art Glitter makes a great clear adhesive, and you can do anything you like with it: freehand, trace letters, fill in shapes, and more.  Then coat it with your favorite glitter (we like Art Glitter here, as well) and let dry.

How to Bling Your Beach Bag: Printing on Fabric & Fusing To Your Bag

Want a picture on your bag?  You can purchase fabric that is printable and stick-on, but it’s pretty pricy.  Many printers use pigment inks, and with a little DIY, you can print on fabric with your inkjet printer.  Here are some great DIY instructions you can try to create your own custom design.  Once you’ve printed your design, you can use Aleene’s Fabric Fusion Spray to attach it to your bag, then bling it up by sewing on a beaded edge to the image, or adding some glitter or studs.  Whatever you want!

Do you embroider?  Try using some metallic thread to bling up your beach bag.  Sulky Metallic Thread comes in a virtual rainbow of colors, and even some color mixes, which will add some sparkle to any beach bag.  You can do this by hand, or we also have Schmetz Metallic Needles for your sewing machine, if you are a machine sewer.
