MWS Sneaker Art Contest

A few weeks ago, we held our very first MWS Sneaker Art Contest on Instagram. Open to all, the only requirement was for the art to be on a pair of sneakers or shoes and done by your own hand. We really wanted to give something back to our sneaker community and a contest seemed like a great way to do it. We got tons of entries and man, they did not disappoint! As the resident artist here at MWS, I am always on the lookout for creative and appealing designs. I’m also in charge of our social media and holding a Sneaker Art Contest was an ideal way for us to get more involved with the community.

MWS Sneaker Art Contest: The Winner

Choosing a winner wasn’t easy. There were some really great entries after two weeks and none of us wanted the job of having to pick just one. In the end, there was a late entry from @jlzzzy (Juliann Kroboth). A pair of extraordinarily detailed kicks that reminded me of a mix between Beauty and the Beast and Strawberry Shortcake caught our eyes and we knew what we had to do!

You might remember Juliann from a blog feature we did on her a few weeks ago. She’s a pretty amazing artist and showed us even more of her creativity with these shoes. But Juliann being Juliann, upon learning that she was our winner, immediately asked for us to donate her winnings to a deserving “Up and comer” (her exact words). We asked if she was sure about it (she was) and so we decided to pick not one, but two more winners! Continue to spread the love, right?!

MWS Sneaker Art Contest: More Winners

Going back to the many entries of amazing art, we ultimately chose @jfefrey and @take_care as our two winners. Both of whom are fantastic sneaker artists with lots and lots of potential. 

@jfefrey is an artist located in Detroit and has a big bold style. We did a feature on him a few weeks ago on Instagram, showing his colorful work. Many of his shoes have bright colors painted across them with finer detailing done in smaller sections. Bright, bold, and fearless is what catches our eye!

@take_care has a style that lends on the artistic side with lots of thought and careful placement. There is a range of characters and styles, such as Bart from the Simpsons and Cookie Monster to typography and more simplistic modern designs.
